It doesn't take but a moment...

I'm trying this out...I'd like your thoughts on video. I find I avoid them because you can't skim and they are often long, but others tell me they only watch v-logs, don't even read blogs. I can see the appeal but I do like to hide behind my words. More on that in an upcoming post.

In the meantime...

Earlier this year, I reluctantly recorded some video about my writing and projects. Here's a 1 minute preview specific to this blog, Writing Out Loud.

  1. As your accomplice in video crimes, my comments will be somewhat ironic... I'm much like you - I prefer to read (skim) material over video. That said, in certain cases I'll watch a video. For me, it's all about the time: I can read something much more quickly than watching a video. But I think a lot of folks prefer video. And it's nice to have the option, to support everyone. Plus, we get a bit of insight into who you are!! :)

  2. Personally I almost never watch video, I would rather read. But having said that, I loved this, in part because I got to "meet" you just a little and I love how cute you are. Especially with what you are doing on Timeless, I think it is a great way for people to connect an actual person with the writing, to see you as a real person. Honestly, I would never be brave enough to do it, I love that you did.

  3. uh oh - cute. I think I'd better stay away from video. Like Timeless - I read cuter/lighter than I am, I'm afraid...

  4. Cheryl (first time here) I agree with Mrs Medium...uh, Mrs Mediocrity--never 'do' vids. However, when you wrote ONE MINUTE, I could not pass. If only everyone could see their way to doing that, we would truly be a Wide World of Peeps, wo get to 'know' one another, and share in a more personal manner.

I also love that you did this.

  5. Thanks so much! This is really encouraging. I vowed to keep to under a minute with any video I post unless it's meant to be a long-form explanation for something. Otherwise I can't imagine anyone can take the time for it. Seems like it's also a good idea to keep ADVERTISING that it's under a minute...
